Zaba QR
Scan, create and save QR codes and barcodes. Works offline.
Zaba QR is not on Google Play yet.
What we are building
These are the features planned for the first release of Zaba QR. We will confirm the final list when the app is released.
- Scan codes with your camera, or from a photo on your phone.
- Create QR codes, Data Matrix codes and common barcodes.
- Keep a searchable history on your phone, with favourites.
- Act on what you scan: open a link, join a Wi-Fi network, or add a contact or calendar event.
- See warning signs on a link before you open it.
- Copy, share or save codes as images.
- Use a light or dark theme.
Supported codes
- Can read
- QR, Aztec, Data Matrix, PDF417, Code 128, Code 39, Code 93, Codabar, EAN-13, EAN-8, ITF, UPC-A and UPC-E.
- Can create
- QR, Data Matrix, Code 128, Code 39, EAN-13, EAN-8 and UPC-A.
Offline use
Scanning, creating codes and history all work without an internet connection, because the barcode reader is built into the app. Ads need a connection and simply do not appear without one.
Permissions
- Camera
- Reads codes while the Scan screen is open. You can decline and still scan from photos and create codes.
- Storage (Android 10 and older only)
- Saves a code image when you tap Save to gallery. Newer Android versions do not need this permission.
- Internet and network state
- Used by Google's ad and scanning components. The app's own features do not need a connection.
- Advertising ID and Android ad services
- Let the Google Mobile Ads SDK read your advertising ID and use Android's ad topics and attribution features.
- Wake lock and foreground service
- Added by Google's ad components and a system library they rely on, so short background tasks can finish. The app's own features do not use them.
Advertising
Zaba QR is free and shows banner ads from Google AdMob on the History and Result screens. There are no ads on the scanner or while you create a code. Where the law requires it, the app asks for your choice before ads load.
